Gov. Brown Releases May Revision to Jan. Budget | 05.14.2012

As you know, Gov. Brown released the May Revision of his January budget proposal today. Though it did not propose larger total cuts, it continues to propose devastating reductions to our early care and education programs. It includes $452.5 million in Non-Proposition 98 child development programs cuts and keeps the harmful proposal to restructure the child care and development system on the table. more

Los Angeles Unified, San Diego Unified, San Jose Unified Among Districts Announcing Plans to Implement TK Following California Senate Vote | 04.23.2012

With both houses of the California state legislature rejecting Governor Brown’s proposal to eliminate transitional kindergarten, school districts across the state are moving forward with implementing transitional kindergarten. Los Angeles Unified School District, California’s largest school district, San Diego Unified School District and San Jose Unified School District are among the more than 175 districts that are registering students for transitional kindergarten this fall. more
